Rules Regarding the use of IFM and FMCA materials outside of FMCA

Please read the following copyright notice for IFM and FMCA assets.

Last Updated: May 19, 2023

Applies to: Alumni

Please read the following copyright notice for IFM assets. The same applies to resources that have been developed by FMCA.

The Institute for Functional Medicine owns the copyright of the patient education handouts. You can use IFM handouts with individual clients and/or with groups as long as you abide by their copyright. They cannot be used as an opt-in or gift that's on a webpage or sent to your email list. In an online group format, you could share appropriate client handouts, use questionnaires, etc. with those that enroll in your program and have signed your Client Agreement as long as they are in original form with IFM (only) branding. You may not modify, copy/reproduce, distribute/display/publish, license/transfer, or sell any information or work contained in the documents (for further permission, please contact info@ifm.org ).

Please note the following in regard to the above notice:

The “distribution” language refers to commercial distribution. IFM encourages using and distributing the toolkit assets with patients/clients and that’s covered under personal use.

Other commercial use and distribution require further permissions. Examples of this include: including toolkit items in short courses with practitioners, posting on websites, providing copies in conferences, etc.

You may use IFM materials with your clients if they are not altered in any way.

You ARE NOT allowed to share them publicly on your website or on social media. The information you obtain is part of the course and is proprietary information that you have paid for the right to use. Your right is to include using it exclusively with your own clients. You also can't distribute the information to the general public (i.e., posting on a website).
